Choices in the 6th Congressional District Race - Cloud or 'other.' While Doug Cloud and Paul Richmond disagree on several things, they share a mutual respect for each other's honesty, integrity, thoughtfulness and principled stances on the issues. Each is committed to bringing new leadership to Washington's 6th district, leadership which actually responds to the needs and wishes of the people. Both are appalled that an overwhelming majority of Washingtonians opposed the billionaire bail-out, yet the incumbent put his Wall Street friends first and voted for it.
Richmond agrees with Cloud on some of the most important issues:
Opposition of the bail-out. We have been robbed to socialize the losses of the Wall Street buddies of Dicks and others in Congress. Unnecessarily aggressive border patrol checkpoints. We shouldn't have gone into Iraq; let's get out, but with honor. No pandering. No politics. No flip-flops. No Federalization of our local police - Let's keep them local and responsive to the community. America should never become a police state. Therefore, Congress should take more time to read bills like the PATRIOT ACT and similar draconian security measures. Often, these bills need to be rejected altogether. Congress should not be the playground of lobbyists and other special interests. Real leadership means serving the interests of the public within the bounds of the Constitution - not trying to buy our votes with pork-barrel spending.
Doug Cloud appreciates Paul Richmond's words of support and respect. Now Doug asks you to look past minor differences and support him in his effort to bring real change to the way business is done in D.C., and bring Washington the long-overdue change we deserve.
