Tacoma, WA – Sixth District Congressional Candidate Doug Cloud said that until now, the incumbent Congressman Norm Dicks has showed a reluctance to come before the voters and defend his record. Cloud feels Congressman Dicks is out of touch with Washington residents and has once again showed himself as beholden to special interests with his support for the recent Wall Street bail-out.
Cloud also asserts that the big-government policies Dicks has promoted during his over 30 years in D.C. have set the stage for the financial crisis we are experiencing today. Cloud also knows that the energy and environmental policies Dicks supports will serve to keep energy prices high and further damage the economy. Instead, less regulation and a greater respect for the market would allow cleaner energy sources to come on line and be instantly competitive, curbing pollution while helping the market.
The incumbent needs to be taken to task for inconsistency and lack of a principled position regarding the war in Iraq. He's guilty of politicizing the war by taking whatever position is safe at the time, an approach which jeopardizes our national security and the lives of American soldiers.
Doug Cloud knows voters are concerned about Dicks' support for last year's bill that would have provided amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants. The incumbent's has consistently exhibited a hostility to the 2nd Amendment. Also, Dicks' record on pork shows he's willing to pay any price with taxpayer money to buy votes.
It is time our district is represented in Congress by someone who takes a principled stance on the issues and does what is best his constituents, not his party or special interests. It is time we have a representative who offers new ideas and real solutions, not safe positions and corrupt pork-barrel spending. Doug Cloud will bring Washington the change we deserve.
